What makes you come alive?

What makes you come alive?

“Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.” ― Howard Thurman

Why do you write?

I think we writers write because it excites us, stirs us, it forces us to live on a more deeply feeling and thinking level.

Many people don’t have something like that in their lives. They are going through the motions, looking for something outside themselves to feel alive.

So even on our most hopeless day of writing, even if we never become a NY Times best seller, we generate meaning for ourselves.

We have the ability to create something new in the world, a chance to be uniquely us.

Create out of Chaos

Create out of Chaos

Invention, it must be humbly admitted, does not consist in creating out of void, but out of chaos. Mary Shelley

Welcome to Cosmic Ink, a blog series with bits of fuel for a stellar creative life.

Hello creators,

I know we have all had to push writing aside because our plans have gone awry.

But just because our life has not obeyed our Google calendar, doesn’t mean we can’t be creative.

We won’t always be able to make order out of chaos, but we can make art out of it.

Stay mindful and use what you can, when you can.

May the muse be with you!
